Gladwin Trail & Route
The Gladwin Trail is over 20 miles of easy to ride, well maintained paths for ATVs. Most of this trail system is limited to ATV or off road motorcycle traffic, as there are places where the tree cover gets very tight. There is a small three mile loop (The Gladwin Route) that is accessible to full sized UTVs that exceed the 50” trail restriction. This system features some fun hills, plenty of gorgeous forests, and some opportunities to hit serious mud when the weather is wet. If you’re looking to explore the wild splendor of the central Lower Peninsula, this ride is a gorgeous opportunity to get out and explore.
Lincoln Hills Route
The Lincoln Hills Route 23 miles of wide, easy to ride trails that loops through the north east corner of Lake County. Be aware when you’re riding that while most of this trail system is open to ATVs and UTVs of all sizes, there are several byways that are accessible only to off road motorcycles. By and large, these trails are well marked, well maintained, and perfect for riders of all experience levels. While it may not feel as wild as some other trails in the area, the Lincoln Hills route is wide enough to easily accommodate two way traffic which makes riding easy as you won’t often run into right of way issues. Because this trail is pretty wide and well ridden it’s more pleasant to ride after a light rain that keeps the dust down.
Snowmobile Riding Areas
The Lower Peninsula has thousands of miles of groomed trails to enjoy when there’s snow on the ground, so ready your snowmobile for some great riding in the areas below. If you’re in the Allegan area you’re within striking distance of plenty of awesome riding right in your backyard. Because many snowmobile routes intersect with (and follow along) local roads, be especially sure that you make yourself visible as you ride.
Route 592
From the parking area just west of Allegan, this route runs east across state land for about 10 miles before it turns north. You’ll head north crossing several country roads before you turn west onto Hwy 89. The road jogs south for around two miles before it turns back to the north and crosses the highway. After just about 5 miles of traveling north the path heads west until it meets snowmobile route 591 and heads south. Following this for several more miles you’ll wind your way past Allegan where you’ll finish at your start point.
Route 593 - 591
Just northeast of Allegan there is another snowmobile loop that is just around 20 miles of riding. Unlike Route 592 this track mostly crosses private land, so be especially aware that this track is subject to change. From the start point off of 128th Ave you’ll head southeast until the track intersects rt. 599, where you’ll head straight north. You’ll turn west after several miles, and have to zigzag around a series of turns just after the trail meets rt. 593 and heads south. from this point is a curvy, but direct, ride back to the to your start point.
